National Service Scheme

The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a Government-sponsored public service program conducted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India. The club aims at developing student's personality through community service and it is a voluntary association of young people in colleges, working for a campus-community linkage.

The National Service scheme of Patrician College of arts and science was started in the year 2001 with 2 units. At present, more than 200 volunteers are actively involved in social activities every year. Through the 2 units, the volunteers actively contribute their services for the cause of community and the nation, thus helping them to develop their personality. It serves as the right platform, where the students involve themselves with real-life social activities, and thereby become responsible citizens of India.

The NSS Unit comprises of 2 Faculty Coordinators, and 6 Student Leaders. Membership is open for 200 students (100 per unit)

Motto – NOT ME, BUT YOU

The motto reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for selfless service. It underlines that the welfare of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of the society on the whole.

The NSS undertakes regular activities for 120 hours and Annual Special Camp for 120 hours. The special camps are held annually, funded by the Government of India, and are organized in rural villages or city suburbs. The NSS volunteers are involved in activities such as cleaning and Sanitation, Afforestation, Stage shows / Street plays, Awareness Rallies on social problems, education and health and cleanliness.
